Free places on five new springboard courses at GMIT

There is good news for jobseekers who wish to attain third-level qualifications with the announcement this week that Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMT) is offering 136 free places on four new part-time courses and one full time course at two of its campuses from September (2016), under the Government-funded Springboard Higher Education initiative, announced recently by the Minister for Education and Skills, Richard Bruton, and the Minister of State for Training and Skills, John Halligan.

Seminar on women's history in Mayo held in GMIT

To celebrate International Women’s Day, staff and graduates of GMIT Mayo recently held a women’s history seminar in association with the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life. The seminar was chaired by Dr Deirdre Garvey, GMIT Mayo head of campus, and it was designed to showcase research on women’s history that is ongoing in GMIT Mayo.

GMIT to hold open morning this weekend

A go-kart demonstration, featuring electric cars built from scratch by third year mechanical and energy engineering students in GMIT, will be among the highlights at the institute’s open morning, taking place this Saturday from 10am to 12.30pm.

GMIT offers free course in food innovation and entrepreneurship

GMIT is to offer a brand new and free Certificate in Food Innovation and Entrepreneurship course under the Government-funded Higher Education Springboard initiative. This part-time course will be delivered by high-profile entrepreneurs such as Brendan Allen, Castlemine Farms, JP McMahon, Galway Restaurateur, Ronan Byrne, Friendly farmer, and Declan Droney, Kinvara Smoked Salmon.
